Eagle Scout R.J. Gunnarsson — 6/20/2023

Troop 103 Scouts, Parents, Committee and Friends,
This evening (6/20/2023) Troop 103 Life Scout Robert “RJ” Gunnarsson was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout, becoming Troop 103’s 89th Eagle Scout.  RJ’s Eagle Scout Service Project brought RJ back to his childhood mountain biking area at Codorus State Park, a place with sentimental meaning.  There, RJ designed and led the troop in the construction, painting and assembly of an information kiosk.

RJ held many leadership positions in Troop 103, and his natural leadership skills shone through even when he did not hold a formal position of responsibility.  During his Eagle Scout Board of Review RJ shared his favorite scouting memory: the Game Tent at summer camp, where 8+ scouts crowded into a hot, humid tent during a July rainstorm to engage in high-stakes gamesmanship, using Goldfish crackers and Cheerios cereal as poker chips.
RJ recently graduated from South Western High School.  He has enlisted in the U.S. Army and reports for basic training on July 10, 2023.  He plans to combine his interest and experience in auto mechanics with a military career as a diesel mechanic, all while continuing his commitment to service.  Please join me in congratulating RJ and in thanking Codorus State Park, donors, family members, friends, leaders, scouts and others who helped make these accomplishments possible.  Please enjoy the attached photos of our proud Eagle Scout with his happy (and relieved) parents and scoutmaster.  We wish you the best, RJ!!  Thank you,
– Jeff
