Troop 103 Scouts, Parents, Committee and Friends,
Congratulations to Adam [AJ] Dubs, Troop 103’s 91st Eagle Scout!
At AJ’s Eagle Scout Board of Review this evening (8/20/24), one theme became apparent: overcoming challenge and adversity. For example, AJ spoke about the obstacles he overcame in earning Camping Merit Badge due to the demands of multiple merit badge counselors. AJ spoke about his most challenging campout: a blustery Survival Weekend at the Kelly Farm (“Rancho Kelly”) — an event that was curtailed due to deepening snowfall, deteriorating weather conditions and, in some cases, poorly prepared scouts. AJ spoke about the fundraising challenges posed by his Eagle Scout Service Project (Bird Box Baffles at West Manheim Park). AJ concluded by stating that his scouting experience has equipped him with the confidence, determination and leadership skills to meet any challenge he takes on in the future. I agree with him!
AJ has held many positions in the Troop, including three terms as Senior Patrol Leader. His peers elected him into the Order of the Arrow. He was a three-time recipient of the Scout of the Year award and he is working toward earning Eagle Palms.
AJ is beginning his senior year at South Western High School. He plans to study accounting in college and he aspires to work as an accountant for the FBI. He plans to remain engaged with Troop 103 so he can help the younger scouts. He believes in giving back. AJ wrote in his Eagle Scout Application, “[M]y goal throughout my life is to live by the Scout Law.”
Please join me in congratulating AJ and his family, and in thanking West Manheim Township as well as the volunteers and donors who helped AJ’s Eagle Service Project come to fruition. Please enjoy the attached photos of our Eagle Scout with his parents and Scoutmaster!
