  November 2-4 - Planning Weekend at Camp Conewago
Boy Scout Troop 103 will be camping at the Camp Conewago Lodge. The weekend will include an session to plan activities for the upcomming year including a budget.

  •   October 19-21 - Gettysburg Bike Ride and Ghost Tour
    Boy Scout Troop 103 traveled to Gettysburg to partake in a 10.9 mile bike ride followed by an evening Ghost tour of the Seminary area.

  •   September 28-30th - Wizard Safari
    Troop 103 attends the Great Wizard Safari. So get ready to hit the trail as we saddle up for Safari 2007 - Great Scouting Round-Up. The program focused on a variety of activities that celebrate the western expansion of the United States of America. There was a great council encampment complete with Boy Scout unit gateways, featuring unit hometown history. Troop 103 featured a gateway celebrating the Mary Ann Furnace area.       September 22 - Zack's Eagle Project
    Zack led a group of scouts and volunteers to assist in resurfacing a basketball court at Heidelberg park. The team finished off the project by landscaping around the court. Click on the photo to the left to view photos of the project.
      September 22 - Aaron's Eagle Project
    Aaron led scouts and volunteers to beautify a local park with new tree plantings. His project also included the installation of new horseshoe pits. Click on the photo to the left to see more photos of his project.
      September 9th - Pancake Breakfast
    Boy Scout Troop 103 will be hosting a Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser in the Social Hall on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2007 after the 8:30 a.m. & 10:15 a.m. Masses. Tickets will be available for purchase in the Narthex after all weekend Masses beginning Saturday, August 25th. More details to follow.       August 18, 2007 - Court of Honor
    Since the beginning of the year, scouts have collectively earned over 120 merit badges and achieved at least 25 rank advancements. Additionally, over 70 special awards were recognized for scouts during this period.

    This year, adult leaders have successfully completed over 23 Training courses this year.

      June 17-21, 2007 Ockanickon Scout Reservation
    12 scouts and 4 adults attended Ockanickon Scout Reservation. One of the attractions of the camp is it offering of required merit badges and its outstanding science center. The camp also offers the Chesapeake Bay Expedition which everyone attending camp attended. See below for additional information and photos about that adventure.

      June 21-22, 2007 Chesapeake Bay Expedition
    As part of the Ockanickon summer camp activities, all 12 scouts and 4 adults attended the Chesapeake Bay Expedition. The Chesapeake Bay Expedition was a great way to end a week at camp. Scouts left Ockanickon Thursday and arrived in St. Michaels, MD for a day of maritime program. As part of this program, Scouts will experience some of the highlights of the Bay like:
  • Operating a skipjack
  • Having an Eastern Shore Lunch
  • Camping on the grounds of the Maritime Museum
  • Seeing relics and artifacts of the history of the Bay

    Scouts enjoyed the sporting events at this year's District Spring Camperall. The Troop received the following awards

    Scouts and many volunteers help sell flowers for the Troop's main fundraising event. Thanks to Tim Homa, Lori Green and the others to help make this event possible.

      March 22-24, 2007 - Laurel Caverns and Geology Merit Badge
    Camping included fire building and celebrating the birthday of one of the scouts.

    Upper Cave Section - The Troop split up into two groups to explore the caverns. One group discovered the upper section that included hundreds of bats.

    Lower Cave Section - The group discovering the lower section of the caves traveled over 3000 feet to the lowest point while following an underground stream. The lowest point was over 5 stories underground. Some spelunkers crawled through wet passageways along the way.

    Geology Merit Badge - Troop 103 earned the Geology merit badge while at the caverns. The group stopped at Sideling Hill along interstate 70. it is an excellent geologic classroom for discovering how the Appalachian Mountains were formed

      February 16-18, 2007 - Klondike Derby - South Pole Challenge
    Troop 103 Attends the Klondike Derby - South Pole Challenge at Camp Tuckahoe
    Patrols participate in activities where they drive their sleds to 12 skill building stations, present entertaining skits at the camp fire gathering, and race their sleds against 20+ other competitors at night. More on the award results will follow.

      February 3, 2007: Scout Show at the North Hanover Mall
    Troop 103 presented Cinematography Merit Badge at the Scout Mall Show. Additionally, four Eagle Scouts from Troop 103 were recognized along with other Eagle Scouts in the District.

      1/18/2007: Summer Camp Overviews and payment schedules for both Ockanickon and Rodney to be presented at the January 20th Court of Honor. This includes reviewing the Troop Calendar.
    1/17/2007: This year Troop 103 is attending two summer camps.

    Ockanickon Scout Reservation (June 17-23, 2007) is located in the beautiful Tohickon Creek Gorge in Bucks County, Pennsylvania near River, on 222 acres bordered by Tohickon Valley County Park and Ralph Stover State Park.

    Rodney Scout Reservation (July 8-14, 2007) is located on 900 acres of rolling upland woodlands at the head of the Chesapeake Bay, boasting nearly 3/4 of a mile of prime bay frontage, in Elk Neck State Park in Cecil County, Maryland.

    Scouts will have the opportunity to attend one or both of the week long programs. An overview of the two summer camps, payment schedules, offered activities and merit badges will be presented Saturday, January 20th during the Court of Honor event. The Troop Calendar will also be reviewed.
